On 1st February 2017, six children – including myself – from Year Five and Year Six went to Garth Hill College, Bracknell, for the annual Kickstart Festival. This competition invites schools to develop their own Kickstart routines and perform them to a panel of judges. We were thrilled to be about to enter and show our original choreography.
We left school early morning at 9:45am and arrived at the college. The host had introduced all of the schools and called the first school up to perform. As we were next, we did not have a chance to watch their dance since we needed to practice our own performance. It was our turn to be on the stage and we tried our best with it, trying to remember each move, perform with confidence and keep in time with each other.
Eventually, all of the schools had finished performing; it was time to hear the scores. Each of us from Team Pines were on the edges of our seats, desperate to know. They announced that we had come in 6th place out of 10 – a great achievement!
We arrived back to school, proud to be representing The Pines. We had a great time and look forward to teaching the rest of the school our routine in our energetic Kickstart sessions. Thank you to Mrs Moorby-Lewis and Mr Casella for being with us and the hard work put in to auditioning and rehearsing us. It was an amazing opportunity.
