Key Stage One
As your child enters Key Stage One, the learning experience changes as we begin teaching from the National Curriculum.
The Autumn Term when the children enter Year 1 is a transition between their foundation stage experience and the more formal approach of Key Stage One. English and Mathematics are taught as separate subjects and reinforced whereever possible. Other curriculum areas are taught through a themed approach, although each subject is planned separately.
Relevant cross-curricular activities are used to enrich, consolidate and extend learning and allow for transfer of skills.
Once your child has completed Key Stage One, their learning experience of The Pines continues into Key Stage Two.
